Derbyshire is a large diverse county with a population in excess of three quarters of a million and home to more than twenty five thousand businesses. The county’s local economy contains contrasting levels of economic performance. Whilst we have high levels of employment, good business survival rates and contribute more than £11 billion in economic output, Derbyshire's economy is growing slower than elsewhere in the East Midlands performing below regional and national averages on productivity.

The relative success and stability of the local economy is not reflected equally across all parts of the county. The dataviews within "Economy" will help to indentify areas of particular strength and weakness within Derbyshire and how it compares both regionally and nationally.
