Benefits and unemployment

Overall Derbyshire has a small proportion of the population aged 16-64 years claiming out-of-work benefits when compared to England as a whole. Just 1.7% or 8,130 people in the county are currently included on the Claimant Count, higher than for April 2017 (1.3%), but lower than the rate for England (2.2%). However, there are areas across the county that experience significantly higher levels of unemployment.
