Benefits and unemployment

Overall Derbyshire has a small proportion of the population aged 16-64 years claiming an out-of-work benefits when compared to England as a whole. Just 1.3% or 6,385 people in the county are currently included on the Claimant Count, the same as the rate for May 2016, but lower than the rate for England (1.9%). However, there are areas across the county that experience significantly higher levels of unemployment.
