Health Needs Assessments

Health needs assessment is a way of systematically reviewing the health issues facing local populations. Health Needs Assessment examines what and how big the problem is, what is currently being done to address it, what the evidence shows are effective and cost-effective interventions and, therefore, what should be done in the future. The aim is to inform local priorities and decisions on planning, commissioning and resource allocation to improve health and reduce health inequalities.

Assessments of the health needs of various populations within the county of Derbyshire and neighbouring authorities have been, and continue to be, undertaken. Those carried out, or updated, since 2010 are listed below.

Substance Misuse 2015 This health needs assessment includes a refresh of the 2012 Health Needs Assessment data and information. It includes estimates of prevalence based on national and local data. It gives insight into the local specialist service provision for children and young people who use substances and for those children and young people who are affected by the substance misuse of others who are close to them.
