Children and maternal Health Intelligence Network Starting well ChiMat provides a wide-ranging, authoritative data, evidence and practice related to children's, young people's and maternal health.
LGA Children's Health Starting well Local Government Association- Childrens Health works with local authorities, including lead members for children's services to deliver better health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people. The Centre for Excellence and Outcomes in Children and Young People's Services (C4EO) Starting well The Centre for Excellence and Outcomes in Children and Young People's Services (C4EO) provides a range of products and services to support the children’s services sector, including adoption, early intervention, child poverty, safeguarding, health and early years.
Maternal and child nutrition (PH11): NICE Starting Well This guidance is for health professionals, commissioners and managers, pharmacists, those providing pre-school childcare and other relevant public, community, voluntary and private sector organisations. It relates to pregnant women, mothers and carers of children aged under 5 and their children and is particularly aimed at those on a low income or from a disadvantaged group.
Early Intervention Foundation Starting Well The Early Intervention Foundation (EIF) is a charity and one of the Government’s ‘What Works Centres’. It works to develop and use the best evidence to move practice and investment from tackling problems late, and expensively, to intervening earlier. The EIF focus is from conception to early adulthood.
Interventions to reduce substance misuse among vulnerable young people (PH4): NICE Developing Well This guidance is for NHS practitioners and others involved in reducing substance misuse among vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people under the age of 25. They may work in the NHS, local authorities or the education, voluntary, community, social care, youth and criminal justice sectors.
Preventing the uptake of smoking by children and young people (PH14): NICE Developing Well This guidance is for those responsible for the health and wellbeing of children and young people aged under 18, in health and care services, criminal justice and some areas of the private sector.
Prevention of sexually transmitted infections and under 18 conceptions (PH3): NICE Developing well This guidance is for professionals who are responsible for, or who work in, sexual health services, including those in primary and secondary care services and in schools.
Promoting physical activity for children and young people (PH17): NICE Developing well This guidance is for all those who are involved in promoting physical activity among children and young people, including parents and carers.

INHALE: Interactive Health Atlas for Lung Conditions in England Ill Health INHALE is an online tool from Public Health England, showing data from a range of sources about respiratory disease, primarily COPD and asthma.
National Obesity Observatory Living Well The Public Health England Obesity website provides a single point of contact for wide-ranging authoritative information on data, evaluation, evidence and research related to weight status and its determinants.
Learning Disabilities Observatory Mental Health The Learning Disabilies Observatory is the result of a partnership between Public Health England, the Centre for Disability Research at Lancaster University and the National Development Team for Inclusion. It provides data and evidence on the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities, links to information and services and a discussion forum.
Local Tobacco Control Profiles for England Living Well The Local Tobacco Control Profiles for England provide a snapshot of the extent of tobacco use, tobacco related harm, and measures being taken to reduce this harm at a local level. These profiles have been designed to help local government and health services to assess the effect of tobacco use on their local populations and inform commissioning and planning decisions.
Mental Health, Dementia and Neurology Intelligence Network Mental Health The Mental Health, Dementia and Neurology Intelligence Network is a part of Public health England and analyses data and evidence to inform commissioning, planning and providing local mental health services.
Mental Health, Dementia and Neurology - Fingertips Profiles Mental Health These profiles are provided by Public Health England, with data profiles and information to support commissioning, planning and providing local mental health services.
National cardiovascular intelligence network (NCVIN) Ill Health NCVIN provides analysis of data and information to assist commissioners, policy makers, clinicians and health professionals to improve health services and outcomes.
PHE-Longer Lives Ill Health Longer Lives highlights premature mortality across every local authority in England, giving people important information to help them improve their community’s health.
The Segment Tool 2015 - Segmenting life expectancy gaps by cause of death Ill Health The Segment Tool provides information on the causes of death that are driving inequalities in life expectancy at local area level and charts showing life years gained or lost for selected causes of death. This allows for more targetted action at local level.
Institute of Alcohol Studies Living Well The Institute for Alcohol Studies looks at scientific evidence on the effects of alcohol on health and the economy, and prevention. Their website provides factsheets and summaries of evidence.
National End of Life Care Intelligence Network Ageing Well Public Health England's National End of Life Care Intelligence Network (NEoLCIN) aims to improve the collection and analysis of information related to the quality, volume and costs of care provided by the NHS, social services and the third sector to adults approaching the end of life.
The Older People’s Health and Wellbeing Atlas Ageing Well The Older People’s Health and Wellbeing Atlas provides a snapshot profile of each local authority in England. Interactive maps and charts enable comparisons to be made nationally for over 100 indicators.
LGA Ageing Well Ageing Well This resource shares the work of the Ageing Well programme. It looks at what makes a good place to grow old and action councils can take to create one. Ageing Well was an intensive programme of support for councils delivered by the Local Government Association and funded by the Department for Work and Pensions.
Trip database Evidence Trip is a clinical search engine designed to allow users to quickly and easily find and use high-quality research evidence to support their practice and/or care.
Local Alcohol Profile for England Living Well LAPE provides profiles containing alcohol-related indicators for every local authority and primary care trust in England.
Centre for Mental Health Mental Health Centre for Mental Health (formerly The Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health) provides information on criminal justice, employment, mental health at work, recovery and children in support of mental health work and policy.
Healthy Places Determinants of Health Healthy Places looks at the use of legal and policy levers to create healthier places to live.
WHO European Database on Nutrition, Obesity and Physical Activity (NOPA) Living Well NOPA is a database of surveillance data, policy, implementation and good practice, from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Measuring National Well-being - ONS Living Well Measures of national well-being, from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The measures draw on social and economic data from government and other organisations to paint a picture of UK society and how it changes.
UK Health Forum: Prevention, Information and Evidence Library Living Well The Library contains information and evidence on non-communicable diseases, including obesity, physical activity, fuel poverty, built environment, air pollution, alcohol, tobacco and more.
National Cancer Intelligence Network (NCIN) Ill Health NCIN is part of Public Health England and provides data and analysis relating to cancer and cancer care.
Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) Ill Health HES contains data on hospital activity, including accident and emergency admissions, critical care, outpatient services and maternity services.
National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse Living Well The National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse is a part of Public Health England responsible for drug and alcohol misuse services.
Health Protection - Public Health England Health Protection Public Health England is responsible for health protection nationally and its website has information on chemical hazards, emergency response, infectious diseases, radiation and services.
Institute of Health Equity Determinants of Health The Institute of Health Equity at University College London builds on the work of the Marmot Review. It studies, and provides data and evidence on, the social determinants of health.
Joseph Rowntree Foundation Determinants of Health The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is a charity that studies the effects of poverty, community and place, and an Ageing society, and ways to alleviate poverty, improve community resilience and respond to an Ageing population.
The Campbell Collaboration Evidence The Campbell Collaboration is an international research network that produces systematic reviews of the effects of social interventions in crime and justice, education, international development, and social welfare, looking at the evidence for potential interventions.
Housing Research - Amber Valley BC Determinants of Health Amber Valley Borough Council publish some research studies on housing in issues in their area, and a homeless health audit for the whole of Derbyshire carried out by the district councils in the county.
Housing and Health Resource Determinants of Health The resource is produced by the Chartered Instutute of Environmental Health, with input from Public Health England and is intended for policy makers and commissioners in health and local government. The resource highlights key issues and includes case studies, a PHE health mapping tool and CIEH policy bulletins.
BRE (Building Research Establishment) Health Briefings Determinants of Health The Building Research Establishment (BRE) has started to produce health briefings. The first two cover the cost of poor housing to the NHS and homes and aging.
Health and Housing - Health Intel Determinants of Health The resource is produced by the The Housing Learning and Improvement Network (LIN), and pulls together data and evidence from a number of sources. It includes policy papers and case studies, as well as an information exchange (the Housing and Health Exchange).
Climate Just Determinants of Health Climate Just is a partnership between Climate UK, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Environment Agency and University of Manchester. It provides case studies, mapping tools and reports on places and people likely to be affected by climate change, and options for adapting.
Road Safety Observatory Determinants of Health The Road Safety Observatory provides summaries and reviews of research on road safety issues, with links to original research.
Injury Observatory Britain and Ireland (IOBI) Evidence IOBI provides data and evidence on accident prevention and is aimed at practitioners.
Health Impact Assessment (HIA) Gateway Evidence The HIA Gateway provides access to resources and information on Health Impact Assessment (HIA) for those new to HIA, practitioners of HIA and those wishing to commission HIAs or similar impact assessments.
The King's Fund Evidence The King's Fund is a charity that studies health and social care and health and care systems, with the aim of shaping policy and practice through research and analysis.
Social Care Online Evidence Social Care Online is a freely available database of research and information on all aspects of social care and social work. It is provided by the Social Care Institute for Excellence.
Social Care Institute for Excellence Evidence The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) is a charity working to support and improve services to adults, families and children. Its website is a portal containing guides, tools, elearning, films and research, and links to SCIE research and training services.
UK Health Forum Evidence The UK Health Forum is a charitable network of professional and public interest organisations working to reduce the risk of avoidable non-communicable diseases by developing evidence-based public health policy. The Prevention Information and Evidence eLibrary summarises the latest public health evidence.
PROSPERO: International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews Evidence PROSPERO is an international database of prospectively registered systematic reviews in health and social care, although key features from the review protocol are recorded and maintained as a permanent record of all registered reviews.
Office of Health Economics Evidence The Office of Health Economics undertakes research and consultancy on health economics and related policy issues affecting health and social care, health technology and the life sciences industries. Registered users can download reports (registration is free).
Map of Medicine Health Services The Map of Medicine is an online tool for developing and presenting care pathways and the evidence on which they are based. The Map includes some local pathways for Derbyshire, as well as national ones. Access is for health and care staff in Derbyshire.
NHS Commissioning for Value data packs Health Services The Commissioning for Value data packs are produced by NHS England and are intended to provide data, evidence and tools to inform Clinical Commissioning Group's (CCG's) decisions on local services and improve outcomes and increase value.
SHAPE (Strategic Health Asset Planning and Evaluation) Public Health SHAPE is an online tool for evidence based strategic planning for local health related services and associated assets. It is free to NHS and Local Authority professionals with a role in Public Health or Social Care, but registration is required.
NHS Derbyshire GP Portal Health Services The GP Portal provides links for GPs in Derbyshire, including to local services and leaflets, NHS Choices information and news.
Methods Stethoscope Health Services Formerly called the Acute Trust Quality Dashboard, the Methods Stethoscope provides a quarterly summary of 90 clinical quality and performance metrics for every non-specialist hospital in England.
Spend and Outcomes Tool (SPOT) Health Services Public Health England provide an Excel based tool for looking at health related expediture and outcomes for key areas of service, plus PDF summaries. There are tools for local authority and CCGs.
Institute for Fiscal Studies Health Services The Institute for Fiscal Studies publishes occasional papers on the economics of health and healthcare services. Other areas of research include poverty and inequalities, public spending, taxation and UK regions.
Association of Public Health Observatories (APHO) Public Health The APHO website brings together data and research produced by the regional and specialist health observatories in England. APHO is a prt of Public Health England.
Public Health - Department of Health Public Health The public health pages of the Department of Health provide information on government policy, consulatations, publications and current issues relating to public health.
Fingertips Public Health Profiles Public Health Fingertips profiles are provided by Public Health England and are a source of indicators across a range of health and wellbeing themes, designed to support JSNA and commissioning in improving health and wellbeing. Data can be exported for local use use as well viewed as online profiles.
Health and Social Care Information Centre Public Health The Health and Social Care Information Centre is the national body responsible for collecting information and data about treatments and care from across health and social care.
Public Health England Public Health Public Health England is an executive agency of the Department of Health responsible for protecting and improving the nation's health and wellbeing, and reducing health inequalities. The website contains information on their work and supporting resources.
Health 2020: the European policy for health and well-being Public Health Health 2020 is a World Health Organisation policy for improving health and wellbeing in Europe. It includes evidence and resources supporting the policy.
The Social Research Unit Public Health The Social Research Unit at Dartington is a charity that seeks to disseminate research evidence of what works in the design and delivery of services for children and families to decision-makers and practitioners.
Centre for Policy on Ageing Ageing Well A learning network that provides a resource for research and policy analysis around ageing, in collaboration with government, practitioners, academia, and voluntary organisations.
