Healthy Places
Healthy places
In the Healthy Places domain of the JSNA, we focus on the collective social and environmental factors that play a significant role in shaping the health of the population as a whole. Unlike the factors in Healthy People and Healthy Lives, these circumstances often go beyond individual control and can impact entire communities.
Healthy Places encompasses five subdomains, each providing valuable insights into various aspects of health:
- Access to Green Space considers the availability of outdoor spaces.
- Access to Services considers the availability of services and resources that promote health such as GPs, leisure centres, and the internet.
- Crime includes personal and low level crime.
- Economic and Working Conditions includes factors such as unemployment, disability employment, and financial inclusion.
- Living Conditions considers the environments we live in. It includes topics such as housing and homelessness as well as the wider environment such as air pollution.
These subdomains and indicators help us better understand how social and environmental factors intersect with health outcomes at a community level. By examining these factors, policymakers and communities can work together to create healthier living environments and improve the overall wellbeing of the population in Derbyshire.
Healthy places data quilt
In the “Healthy Places” domain data quilt, you’ll encounter a diverse collection of data that explores the social and environmental factors influencing health outcomes at a collective level. These data delve into areas such as access to green spaces, housing conditions, community services and safety, economic and working conditions, and living environments. They offer valuable insights into how the places where people live, work, and interact impact their overall health and wellbeing. These data points are essential for understanding the broader context of health in communities across Derbyshire, its districts and boroughs.
