The latest unemployment data has been released, with Derbyshire’s claimant count unemployment rate in January 2026 at 2.7%, this is some way below the England rate of 4.0%. Youth unemployment in Derbyshire is higher though at 4.5%, matching the national average.
Please note that in January 2026 the DWP and ONS changed the geographies at which Unemployment data is released. Because of this there is a break in the time series for Wards and LSOAs, with no comparison able to be made between January 2026 and earlier time periods. The time series for Electoral divisions, districts and above is unbroken.
